The method is an effective and safe form of manual touch (application) and holistic self-help (self-therapy) method and helpful for:

The DORN Method has helped people with Backpain, Sciatica, Scoliosis, Neck- and Joint Pains, Hip-Problems, Migraine, Fibromyalgia etc. but also with all kinds of organic (inner) problems and non-physical issues.

The technical (practical) approach of DORN is based on natural laws of physics, physiology and anatomy and combines TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) principles/knowledge with western techniques and principles of manual therapy and selfhelp exercises and has produced great results over many years now (Based on anecdotal evidence and several case studies).

A Healing “Method” because it combines 3 major factors:

1. Avoidance = Prevention:

Awareness of possible causes (or contributing factors) of Spinal and Joint problems
(to avoid (prevent) future mistakes!)

2. Manual application = Demonstration session:

An effective and safe manual application in cooperation with the client for Demonstration of the selfhelp possibilities
(combining counter-pressure - movement) Important: Used are only safe Non-manipulative self-regulating mechanisms.

3. Self Help:

The origins:

Dieter Dorn was a German farmer and sawmill owner who developed the method himself more in the late 1970s. The lay healer since trained many people in this wonderful technique since it takes only a few days (usually 2 to 4) to learn and many are now practicing it with equal success.

The basic principles:

The DORN Method as a holistic Selfhelp-Method starts, if possible, with its manual application part that is a gentle spine and joint re-balancing and treatment. It can be helpful for illnesses directly or indirectly connected to the spinal column. It is completely safe but still very effective.

No medication is needed and no medical training is necessary to use the method successful. It can be learned and mastered easily all you need is sensitive, healthy hands.

A talented lay person can quickly help, in many cases, themselves and those around them (family, friends etc.), but of course to use the DORN Method on a professional level more experience, training and knowledge about anatomy, physiology, physical therapy or massage etc. is necessary!

Our skeleton should be symmetrical, harmonic and in a static-dynamic alignment equilibrium. When we upset this bone order then our joints may be moved out of balance especially in the spine.

When the structural system is re-aligned people often feel better fast and symptoms like pain and often also other illness can disappear or abate.

The DORN Method is based on the correction of uneven leg length which can be diagnosed in almost every human today. Because of that the pelvis becomes twisted, or the twisted pelvis causes this functional leg length discrepancy, and this often results in a asymmetrical, crooked or displaced spinal column.

Conventional medicine has very little yet complicated explanations for the causes and effects and persons many end up having operations or walk around with special build up shoes or insoles. The Dorn Method proves that we can re-balance leg length differences every day and your body will thank you for that.

The corrections of joint or spinal column misalignments or imbalances is always done in a dynamic, a moving action. Our muscles and especially tensed muscles will always try to hold the positions of the joints and spine and when they are out of their natural order the muscles assumes this wrong position as the normal = correct one and hold it there or in some cases muscular imbalances can even cause the joint blockage.

A static correction e.g. chiropractic, is difficult since it needs to overcome the strength of the holding muscles (= natural protective tension) and the client is often quite tense since the treatment is done "on" him and not "with" him and feels not in control of the situation.

The Dorn Method uses motion to divert the muscles tension and in this more relaxed state it is reasonable easy to re-align the structures that is in fact a natural self-regulating mechanism. It is always this combination of pressure (= counter pressure where the clients gives resistance towards the DORN practitioners hand and movements done by the client (and guided by the DORN practitioner).

Although the practitioners careful pressure, which is actually a counter-pressure from the patient side, is encouraging the bones to re-balance its position in the same way it normally does it naturally with every movement we do. The whole functional unit of bones-ligaments-muscles-fascia and other tissues is treated at the same time and can mobilise itself using this combination of natural dynamic movements during this treatment situation.

The DORN Method can be called a gentle Method and NO harm can be done to the client because the careful pressure (= counter pressure) is stopped as soon as any (real or intolerable) Pain arises. The client is always in total control of the situation and can decide anytime to stop for any reason.

Positive results are often immediately achieved and with some easy selfhelp exercises, that the client must always do after the DORN practical session, the DORN Method can bring long lasting relief.
